The Rock wanted to create something interesting when he returned to WWE.
Speaking with E! News, The Rock discussed his return to WWE and his hope to have a part in the biggest WrestleMania of all time. The interview was seemingly recorded before the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff press conference, where Cody Rhodes chose to face Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.
“It’s in my DNA. WrestleMania, every year, year over year, continues to get better and better and cooler and cooler. Bigger and bigger,” The Rock said. “So the goal with me coming back to WWE, there were a couple of few components to it.
“Number one was, most importantly, what can we create for the fans that’s gonna be interesting. Then, can we possibly create the biggest WrestleMania event of all time? The biggest match of all time between myself and Roman Reigns. Can we do that? The best thing about always coming back to this world of pro wrestling that I was born into is, I get to connect with the people and the fans in ways that I don’t have that opportunity to.”
The Rock and Roman Reigns are set to appear on the February 16 episode of WWE SmackDown. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
