Gunther Is Not Worried At All About Defending His Title Against Jey Uso

Gunther’s title reign is impeccable record that is still growing in WWE.

He is the longest-reigning Intercontinental Champion. He has surpassed 600 days as the champion. The Ring General has defeated multiple former WWE World Champions on his long reign. Some of the top former champions he has defeated are Kofi Kingston, Sheamus, Drew McIntyre, The Miz, and many more.

Now, Gunther is set to defend his title against a top talent who is looking to capture his first singles championship, Jey Uso.

Last week, Mr. Main Event interrupted The Ring General’s 600-day celebration and challenged Gunther to a match for the Intercontinental Title. Now, that Jey Uso and The New Day picked up a pinfall victory over Imperium, Uso has earned himself a shot at Gunther next week on Raw.

During an interview with Cathy Kelly, Gunther claimed that he isn’t worried about Jey Uso.

“Oh, I’ll address it (the loss to Jey Uso and the New Day) no problem. Objectively we have to look at the rivalry with The New Day. Well boys, I think this whole thing is a marathon, not a sprint. But honestly, the New Day and Jey Uso, they are both two of the most successful tag team wrestlers in the history of this company. And we lost to the better team today. That’s fine. Next week, Jey Uso is challenging me for the Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship,” he explained.

“It’s going to be interesting. Because this time, Jey cannot share the burden of being successful. Jey will fully rely on himself and he will face somebody that unlike him, has achieved everything on his own. So I am not worried at all,” Gunther said.
