Tony Khan Provides Update On Kenny Omega, Looks Forward To His Return

Tony Khan says Kenny Omega is doing better.

Former AEW World Champion Kenny Omega is currently sidelined with diverticulitis. He took to social media on December 15 and noted that he would be out indefinitely, as he had to go to the hospital, where he was diagnosed. In January, Dave Meltzer discussed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio and stated that the plan was to wait seven weeks to see whether Omega needed surgery.

During an appearance on the Sports Grid, AEW CEO Tony Khan was asked about Kenny Omega’s status. He stated that Omega had been seriously sick, but he was doing better. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)

“Kenny, we’re all very worried about him,” Tony Khan said. “He’s doing better, but he was seriously sick. His life could have been threatened had he not gotten to the doctor when he had. He was really sick, and thankfully, he’s doing much better. We’re all wishing Kenny the best and looking forward to seeing Kenny Omega back in AEW as soon as he’s healthy.”

As of this writing, there is no word on when Kenny Omega will return to AEW. WrestleZone wishes Omega well in his recovery, and we will provide more information as it becomes available.
