Nikki Cross has been absent from in-ring action for a while now. But it seems like she has been busy in her absence.
The former WWE Raw Women’s Champion took to Instagram to reveal that she is set to run her first marathon. The event will be taking place in November of this year. She will be running for a noble cause. She wants to raise awareness for children’s Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
“Exciting and Nerve Wracking news! I’m running my 1st ever Marathon THIS Nov in NY.
I’m doing it with a wonderful organisation @jarofhopeorg and my amazing friend Lexie Fyfe @slamminladies We are raising funds and awareness for children’s Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.”
The former WWE Raw Women’s Champion also explained what Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is. It is a disease that mostly affects boys. This is a fatal disease, and especially in the United States, it affects about 20,000 children. The disease strikes once in every 3,500 births. Sadly there is no cure for this fatal disease.
“DMD is a fatal, muscle-wasting disease you are born with. It occurs once in every 3,500 live births and affects mostly boys. In the United States, with a population of over 330,000,000 people, about 20,000 children are stricken with Duchenne. And there is no cure.
We need to find a cure and need the funds to do so. Please donate if you can. It doesn’t matter how big or small your donation is. Every dollar helps. Every cent helps. Also, please share this campaign on your social media so we can spread the word and create more awareness.
Thank you all so much, Lots of love from a nervous, caffeinated and super excited Nikki #jarofhope #SaveTheFirstChild #teamjamesy,” Nikki Cross posted.
