Booker T Provides Update After Medical Procedure, Can’t Wait To Return To NXT

Booker T says he wants to return as soon as possible.

Ahead of NXT Vengeance Day on February 4, NXT commentator Booker T said that he would miss the show because he had to undergo a medical procedure. He noted that he would miss the next few weeks of television as well.

Speaking on the Hall of Fame podcast, Booker T commented on his absence.

“I know you missed me, I know missed me, but I’m good, guys,” Booker T said. “First of all, I want to thank everybody for all the support, man, all the well wishes, telling me to get well, to get back on track. I’m gonna get back as soon as I can. I’m gonna take a couple weeks off, but rest assured, I will be back, live and in living color baby, doing it like it’s supposed to be done.

“But I’m gonna take these days off and relax. I want to let everybody know right now, I’m medicated [laughs] just in case I say anything. Brad, have your finger ready, man. Because I can say anything today [today]. That’s all prescription though. The doctor said I gotta do this every four-hour thing.”

Booker T: I Feel Good

Co-host Brad Gilmore then asked to clarify whether Booker T was okay and everything was “straight” following the procedure. The WWE Hall of Famer made it clear that he was okay, and he’s on his way back to feeling 100%.

“Yeah. I had a medical procedure,” Booker T said. “The thing is, I don’t like putting my business out there and stuff. If I was dying, I’d let you guys know, okay, but I ain’t dying. I ain’t dead yet. It ain’t nothing like that. But it is something that’s gonna keep me down for a couple weeks. That’s the thing with me, man. I’m antsy. I don’t like being down.

“I always like being on the go. Working out has been my thing forever is being able to get up in the morning, get in the gym and train. Before I go to bed, get in the gym and train. This last month or so, I haven’t been able to do that. But right now, I’m on my way back to getting to that point. I feel good. I’m sore as hell. I know what it feels like to be a fish when they cut you. But I feel good.”

Booker T Gives Wade Barrett Credit

Booker T went on to say that he was upset that he missed NXT Vengeance Day, as the show as awesome. He took a playful jab at Wade Barrett, who filled in for him on commentary, before he emphasized that he can’t wait to return.

“I hate [that] I missed Vengeance Day because the action was action-packed,” Booker T said. “I’m sitting there listening to it, and it just didn’t have the same feel, damn it. I was like, man. Wade didn’t have enough rhythm, especially to his cadence. But as far as the show goes, awesome.

“Wade, I give him a lot of credit, stepping in my spot, taking over for me. Next couple of weeks, I don’t know who’s gonna be stepping into that spot, but good luck. But I can’t wait to get back.”

As of this writing, there is no word on when Booker T will return to WWE programming. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
