One of the biggest returns of 2024 was former WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi. After a successful run in TNA Wrestling, the 36-year-old star returned to the Stamford-based promotion at the 2024 Women’s Royal Rumble match. She was the number two entrant and lasted almost the entire Rumble match. Naomi lasted over an hour. Recently, she spoke up about her return and the brand she chose to be a part of.
This past Friday night on WWE SmackDown, the Blue Brand’s General Manager Nick Aldis was extremely busy. He was attempting to sign a lot of Superstars including former NXT Champion Bron Breakker and former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill. While he may not be successful in signing them yet, he was indeed successful in signing two former champions. They were none other than former NXT Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton and former SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi.
Upon receiving her SmackDown contract, Naomi was interviewed by Byron Saxton. During the interview, she mentioned that she’s ready to work herself up into the title picture again.
“It feels very special. Magical. More exciting than anything I’ve ever done thus far in my career. To have the opportunity to be back and return in such a way. I’m still on a high about it all. I’m still adjusting cuz there’s a lot of new faces. A lot that I don’t like. And also a lot that I remember and do like. So, yeah, I’m just getting reacquainted again and having an opportunity to come back. I’m ready and willing to work my way back up through the ranks and hopefully get myself back into the championship picture. But before I do any of that, I got to glow,” Naomi said.
