Trick Williams previews what could happen this Sunday.
NXT Vengeance Day will serve as a turning point for Trick Williams and Carmelo Hayes as the duo will compete in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic finals on the same night that Williams challenges Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship.
During a recent appearance on Busted Open, Williams addressed if he thinks he and Hayes can put their tension behind them and move forward to win their important matches this weekend.
“I feel like that’s the story we’ve been telling,” Williams said. “Trick-Melo Gang, I mean our chemistry is second to none. We’ve been rocking for a very long time now. We’re locked in for the Dusty Classic. I’m locked in for this match with Dragunov. I’m excited to take care of business.”
Later on, Williams was asked if he believes that Carmelo Hayes is enough of a friend to support him as NXT Champion despite his own desires to be champion again.
“That’s a great question,” Williams said. “I would like to think so, I hope so. I dedicated two years, nearly two years, to making sure that Carmelo Hayes was on top of his game. We’re talking about entrances, talking about training, talking about support, the locker room, everything. At that point in my career, I made sure that Carmelo Hayes looked like the star that he is. In this moment where I’m getting my NXT Championship, my first title shot for this title, I hope he can be there for me as well.”
