Suzu Suzuki Sets Her Eyes On The IWGP Women’s Championship

Following a crushing loss at Dream Queendom 2023, Suzu Suzuki is now focusing her attention on Mayu Iwatani’s IWGP Women’s Championship.

In a recent interview with Rizu Kimoto of Tokyo Sports, Suzu Suzuki expressed her interest in gunning for all the championship gold available.

Suzu’s claim to the IWGP title

When asked about her plans this year, she explained that her path to climbing the company’s hierarchy begins with her winning the IWGP Women’s Title from current champion Mayu Iwatani.

“This time, I will defeat that zombie Iwatani and aim for the IWGP Women’s Championship. My goal is to win all the belts. Because 2024 will be meaningless unless it is the year of Suzu Suzuki. We’re going to kick everything out of the way,” says Suzu (translation via Google Translate). On the upcoming February 4 Supreme Fight show in Osaka, Suzu and Mayu will meet in the ring on opposite sides of an eight-woman tag match.

As of the time of writing, Suzu’s sentiments remain a callout as STARDOM has not made an official announcement of a match. Mina Shirakawa is currently next in line for a shot at Mayu Iwatani’s belt, as previously reported.

Suzu’s thoughts on the new EXV faction

Suzu also commented on her best friend turned rival Maika‘s newly-formed faction “EXV”. She expressed doubt in the ability of Maika and Mina Shirakawa to work as a cohesive unit given their opposing leadership styles. “There’s no way things will work out. I’ll destroy everything Maika goes to, so it’s possible that the unit will disband as soon as possible,” she explains (translation via Google Translate).

Since losing the opportunity to become World of Stardom Champion against Maika, Suzu now finds herself at a restart. Does Suzu Suzuki have what it takes to climb to the top of the STARDOM roster again this 2024? Let us know your thoughts by sounding off in the comments below.
