CM Punk confirms the rumors.
On the January 29 episode of WWE RAW, CM Punk came to the ring and commented on his loss at WWE Royal Rumble, where Cody Rhodes last eliminated him to win the men’s battle royal. Punk said that he came close, but he was not mad at anyone. Instead, he stated that Rhodes earned it, and he hoped to see him finish the story at WrestleMania.
Punk then stated that he had never believed in luck, but he felt somewhat unlucky, as he confirmed that he suffered a torn triceps during the Royal Rumble match. He then noted that it seemed like WrestleMania 40 was not in the cards. Punk brought up a friend of his who has cancer, and he emotionally described how he watched them fight.
Punk then noted that he loses more than he wins, and he cited his unsuccessful UFC run. He stated that he had a dream, and he chased it, even though it scared him. Punk explained that the same mentality was true when he returned to WWE. He vowed to overcome his injury, which he referred to as more adversity that he had been dealt. Punk promised to keep going, and while WrestleMania 40 was not in the cards, there was always next year
Drew McIntyre interrupted and told Punk that he prayed for his injury, and he slept like a baby when he found out. He told Punk that he would get into the world title match at WrestleMania and live Punk’s dream. Punk fired back by saying that he would go to rehab and target McIntyre upon his return. McIntyre attacked Punk and targeted his wounded arm. Sami Zayn made the save, and officials checked on Punk.
As of this writing, it is not known when CM Punk will return to WWE programming. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
