CM Punk Tore His Triceps During 2024 WWE Royal Rumble

CM Punk reportedly suffered a serious injury in the Men’s Royal Rumble, his first televised match since his WWE return.

CM Punk competed in the Men’s Royal Rumble match on January 27. He was the last competitor eliminated by the eventual winner, Cody Rhodes.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer first reported that CM Punk suffered a significant injury in the Royal Rumble match, and there was speculation that it was a torn triceps. However, the exact injury was not confirmed. The report noted that WWE planned to have Punk address the injury on WWE RAW on Monday.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful then reported that there was a fear that Punk suffered an injury, but it had not been confirmed. Fightful’s Corey Brennan reported that Punk waved off a doctor near the end of the match.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider then confirmed that CM Punk suffered a torn triceps during the Royal Rumble match on Saturday. Johnson wrote that Punk was believed to be heading towards surgery after appearing on RAW on January 29.

John Pollock of POST Wrestling cited a WWE source who said the injury news was accurate.

The report cited sources who expressed their belief that CM Punk would likely need four to six months of recovery and physical therapy, so that would likely force him to miss WrestleMania 40.

CM Punk previously suffered a torn triceps at AEW All Out 2022. However, that injury occurred on his right arm, whereas he could be seen favoring his left arm during the Royal Rumble match.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
