Fans have been buzzing about a potential match between The Rock and Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in recent weeks, and the bout is still planned, according to a new report.
The Rock teased a match against Roman Reigns when he appeared at WWE RAW: Day One on January 1. Heading into WWE Royal Rumble, the road forward was seemingly up in the air, as Cody Rhodes had widely been seen as the favorite to face Reigns at WWE WrestleMania 40. Rhodes then won the Men’s Royal Rumble match, and he pointed at Reigns as the show came to an end.
Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez discussed the situation in the aftermath of WWE Royal Rumble on Wrestling Observer Radio. Meltzer stated that WWE still has plans for a singles match between The Rock and Roman Reigns this year, but it’s unclear when and where. He emphasized that it is still happening, even after Rhodes’ victory in the Royal Rumble match. (H/t Ian Carey of F4WOnline.com)
Melzter previously reported that Roman Reigns was not scheduled for WWE Elimination Chamber in Perth, Western Australia, on February 24.
In a recent interview, The Rock said that there is a chance that he will face Roman Reigns. Check out his comments here.
