Slim Jim is back in the Royal Rumble.
On Friday, Slim Jim announced it was pausing an existing partnership with WWE due to the new allegations and lawsuit against Vince McMahon.
Now, Slim Jim has issued a statement to POST Wrestling’s John Pollock, confirming the company is resuming the partnership immediately. Slim Jim will remain as a sponsor of the 2024 Royal Rumble event in St. Petersburg.
“After the departure of Vince McMahon, and discussions with WWE TKO senior leadership, Slim Jim has decided to re-enter the Royal Rumble,” Slim Jim said in a statement.
WrestleVotes first reported that Slim Jim would resume the partnership.
Lawsuit against McMahon
Janel Grant filed a lawsuit against Vince McMahon, John Laurinaitis, and WWE on January 25. The lawsuit alleged sexual assault and sexual trafficking, among other offenses.
McMahon resigned from his positions in TKO and WWE on Friday night. In a statement, McMahon claimed his innocence. However, he said he didn’t want to be a distraction to the company or its employees. He used the following statement to Deadline on Friday night:
“I stand by my prior statement that Ms. Grant’s lawsuit is replete with lies, obscene made-up instances that never occurred, and is a vindictive distortion of the truth,” Vince McMahon said. “I intend to vigorously defend myself against these baseless accusations, and look forward to clearing my name.
“However, out of respect for the WWE Universe, the extraordinary TKO business and its board members and shareholders, partners and constituents, and all of the employees and Superstars who helped make WWE into the global leader it is today, I have decided to resign from my executive chairmanship and the TKO board of directors, effective immediately.”
WWE / Slim Jim partnership
WWE and Slim Jim entered a “multi-layered partnership” that started at SummerSlam 2023 in Detroit. Slim Jim was the presenting sponsor of the 2023 SummerSlam Battle Royal.
The partnership between the two companies featured “custom content and social media executions” with WWE Superstars. In addition, online sweepstakes to drive fan engagement, in-store activations and more were planned.
At the time of the announcement, WWE confirmed Slim Jim would have a presence at Survivor Series 2023, as well as at the 2024 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40.
