Report: Mercedes Moné Not Scheduled For WWE Royal Rumble, Expected In AEW

Fans continue to buzz about the future of Mercedes Moné. But multiple reports indicate that she probably will not appear at WWE Royal Rumble.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that Mercedes Moné is not scheduled for WWE Royal Rumble. He states that she was spotted in Boston on Friday. In other words, at least the day prior to the show, she was not in town. Johnson also writes that there has been zero discussion about her in WWE circles recently. He notes that some in WWE believe she is AEW-bound.

Per Johnson, others in the company view the situation with a mindset that they won’t believe she’s not coming back until she lands elsewhere. However, she is not expected for the Royal Rumble, at least among Johnson’s sources.

Likewise, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that, in asking a WWE source about Moné being in the Royal Rumble, one replied that they were “not really interested in contract tampering with her,” so they doubted it.

Update On Mercedes Moné/AEW

In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that AEW is confident that Mercedes Moné will start with the company soon. Meltzer states that Moné had been doing acting work. However, there is talk that her debut will be “played up”, with an announcement possibly coming soon.

The report notes that Moné had negotiated with WWE, but they were far apart on money. However, Meltzer states that nothing was a lock, unless Moné had officially signed a contract. (H/t Joseph Currier of F4WOnline).

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available, and we will have coverage of WWE Royal Rumble as it airs on Saturday.
