Bryan Williams And Lynell Jinks Discuss WWE 2K24’s Showcase, Tease MyFACTION Characters In Other Modes

WWE 2K24 was revealed earlier this week, and we’ll be living through forty years of WrestleMania in the game’s Showcase mode this year.

WWE 2K24 Developers Bryan Williams and Lynell Jinks recently sat down with WrestleZone Senior Editor Matt Black. When asked about what went into the decision to do forty years of WrestleMania when thirty years had already been done with 2K14, Jinks said it was a no-brainer for them.

“Yeah, it’s a huge milestone, right? 40 years of WrestleMania, for us, it was a no-brainer,” Lynell Jinks said. “When you think about the amount of matches that we probably didn’t feature in 2K14 or the matches that have taken place since.

“And now, with our slingshot tech and doing that transition that smooth, smooth as butter transition with the slingshot tech, from gameplay to live-action footage, and telling the stories that only WWE can tell, we really make this mode feel special and trying to painstakingly match all of the details from the characters to the animation to the environment to the lighting and the effects that you see on screen is extremely challenging for us.

“I’m amazed at what we were able to pull off. Some of the match types and matches that we’ve chosen this year, and some of the superstars that we’re featuring is unlike anything we’ve ever done.”

The old-school ramp-facing camera will return in WWE 2K24

While we’re taking things old school by reliving the history of WrestleMania, Bryan Williams would reveal that the old-school ramp-facing camera will return to the franchise as an option in 2K24.

“I just want to throw this in because I know that you’ve been covering the game for a long time and I don’t think I’ve mentioned it yet today, but we have the ramp-facing camera making a return,” Bryan Williams revealed. “So that is something that players will be able to experience this year as well. It’ll be an option that players can turn on and off, but it is making a return in 2K24.

“I think one of the things that I love about it is that it makes choosing the arena you fight in that much more important. Because now you’re seeing the stage area, it’s like you’re getting that visual. So it matters now which arena I want to compete in. I think fans are really going to be happy with that new addition.”

MyFACTION complaints have seemingly been addressed in WWE 2K24

When asked about the MyFACTION complaints that all of the unique character models that were featured in that mode were locked behind it and not available throughout the rest of the game, Jinks teased that would be changed in 2K24.

“I don’t know if people actually want that, Matt. No, I’m playing,” Lynell Jinks teased. “We haven’t announced anything yet but let’s just say that we hope to please people with a future announcement. So stay tuned.”
