Kevin Patrick has reportedly departed from WWE.
Earlier this week, it was reported that WWE executives decided to pull Kevin Patrick from SmackDown commentary duty, with the reason being that it “just wasn’t working out.” While Patrick was well-liked personally, there was an internal feeling that he was not the right fit for the role.
After being removed from the SmackDown commentary team, Kevin Patrick has now reportedly been released from WWE, per a new update from PWInsider.
PWInsider previously reported that veteran announcer Michael Cole had been penciled in as Patrick’s replacement for the January 26 episode of WWE SmackDown, which will emanate from Miami, Florida. As of now, though, it remains unclear if Cole will be the permanent replacement for Patrick, or if WWE will eventually assign that role to another broadcaster.
Kevin Patrick joined WWE in March 2021, beginning his stint as a backstage correspondent, commentator, and host for the RAW brand. Patrick was then transferred to SmackDown in 2023, where he was paired alongside Corey Graves and Michael Cole on commentary. Cole’s voice was later made exclusive to RAW, leaving Graves and Patrick as a tandem on WWE’s blue brand.
WrestleZone will provide more information on Patrick’s departure as it becomes available.
