It’s not a matter of if, but when for Montez Ford.
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour With Ariel Helwani, WWE stars Bianca Belair and Montez Ford discussed navigating their lives as a married couple in WWE. When Belair was asked if she feels any guilt over being at the top of the card, she responded by stating that she knows her husband’s time is coming.
“I wouldn’t say I’ve felt guilt, I just feel like appreciation for him, and I feel empathy,” Belair said. “Like I understand where he’s coming from and where his mind space is. I’m appreciative of him. At the same time, I don’t feel guilty because his time is coming. I tell him that all the time. ‘Your time is coming. It’s not a matter of if, it’s a matter of when.’
“But that’s the hard part. You could tell somebody that all the time, but they have to believe in themselves, and it’s tricky and it’s a balance. But I’m at the height of my career right now, and he’s feeling like he still has somewhere he wants to go. I still have somewhere I want to go, and then I’m like, ‘I’m going, I’m going,’ and all of sudden it’s like, ‘But I wanna have baby.’ So where does that fit and now my career might stop and I’m freaking out and panicking. It’s just always balancing and compromising and supporting, but it’s crazy.”
Belair and Ford will be the focus of Love & WWE, which premieres on Hulu in February.
