Cody Rhodes appeared after the January 19 episode of WWE SmackDown went off the air and hyped up the road to WrestleMania.
In a post-show promo, Cody Rhodes addressed the crowd. He hinted that he is aware of the rumors, but his sights remain firmly set on repeating as the winner of the Royal Rumble and going to WrestleMania. (Clip courtesy of WrestlingNewsCo)
“I’ve done a few silly things, but all of them were in the efforts to give the city, the town, the community that raised me something to remember. When you’re home, you share things that only you would share at home. Here’s one. There is only one thing that makes me tired of coming home. The only only thing that makes me tired when coming home is coming home empty-handed. I think we need to change that.
“And I am not immune to all the news, everything that’s happening, what will happen, what won’t happen. All I tell you is this. I’m the right man for the job, I’m the best man for the job. I’m heading into the Royal Rumble, I’m gonna go back-to-back. And I’m gonna bring a championship back home to Atlanta.”
Obstacles On The Road To WrestleMania
In his promo, Cody Rhodes seemingly referred to the rumors about WrestleMania 40, both regarding The Rock and a potential match with Roman Reigns, and the reported injury to World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Fightful Select recently reported that Rollins suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus.
