Kenny Omega remains sidelined, and he has not had surgery yet, according to a new report.
On December 15, Kenny Omega announced that he would be out of action indefinitely. In the post, he revealed that he went to the hospital. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful then reported that Omega was hospitalized and diagnosed with diverticulitis. Dave Meltzer later reported that the situation could have been “horrendous” if Omega had not gone to the hospital when he did.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that Kenny Omega was unable to have surgery as scheduled due to the extent of the inflammation. As of last week, Omega still had not had the procedure. Per Meltzer, a decision regarding whether Omega will be made in about seven weeks, based on his healing. The surgery would likely keep him out of action for significantly longer.
Omega had been set to team up with Chris Jericho at AEW Worlds End. The duo was scheduled to challenge Ricky Starks and Big Bill for the AEW World Tag Team Championship. Jericho instead competed in an eight-man tag team match at the show.
Update: Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) confirms that Omega has not had surgery yet. Sapp writes that he is not factored into creative plans, and AEW is not sure when he will be back.
As of this writing, there is no time frame for Kenny Omega’s return.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
