AEW World Champion Samoa Joe comments on Jon Moxley wrestling for NJPW and teases a match between the two.
At NJPW Battle in the Valley, Jon Moxley beat Shingo Takagi. After the match, he called out IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Tetsuya Naito. They will clash at NJPW Windy City Riot.
Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Samoa Joe shared his thoughts on Moxley’s looming match with Naito.
“Moxley doing that, it doesn’t surprise me at all,” Samoa Joe said. “If I were Mox, I’d look to take someone else’s belt, too. He wants to fight any other champion in the world but me. There was thought behind what he did. Let’s not deny that.”
Samoa Joe Would Be Happy To Give Jon Moxley A Better Perspective
Samoa Joe then noted that AEW is a worldwide marketplace, where wrestlers can clash with champions from around the globe. He also teased that he could be happy to give Moxley a better perspective about his title reign.
“And that gets back to the wonder of AEW: it’s a worldwide marketplace. You can compete against champions from around the world, not just hidden in your own pocket dimension where no one else can get it. If Mox wants to parade that belt around the real world’s champion, I’d be more than happy to give him a better perspective on where his championship reign really stands.”
Samoa Joe will make his first defense of the AEW World Championship on Wednesday, as he will defend the gold against HOOK.
