Bryan Danielson‘s dream came true at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18.
AEW star Bryan Danielson returned to Japan and battled Kazuchika Okada in a buzzworthy bout at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18. The match marked Danielson’s first time competing for NJPW in Japan since 2004.
In a tweet, AEW shared a message from Bryan Danielson, who discussed his match at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18.
“I’m probably not gonna talk to my kids about wrestling at all,” Danielson said with a laugh. “To be honest, they’re not that interested. If they were, this is what I would say. This specific night has been a dream of mine for a long time, and it’s something that I’ve always wanted and something that I’ve kind of been chasing for as long as I can remember. You see me here with an ice pack over my eye, you think how could that be what you wanted?
“I never wanted a life free from pain. That wasn’t my desire. I didn’t want a life that was easy, I didn’t want a life where I won all the time. I wanted a life filled with struggle, where I could find meaning in the struggle, and struggling to get here for as long as I have, knowing that in the back of my mind that this is what I alway wanted and feeling a little bit like I betrayed myself years and years ago, I just couldn’t be happier. That’s what I’m gonna tell my kids about this experience.”
Danielson will return to Japan at NJPW The New Beginning in Osaka. More information is available here.
