Sheamus Claims He, Gunther, and Drew McIntyre Stole the Show at Wrestlemania 39

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus had an interesting 2023. He continued his hunt for the WWE Intercontinental Championship but unfortunately, to date, he has not been able to capture the championship.

Not only Sheamus but also Drew McIntyre was in the hunt for the WWE Intercontinental Championship. But the champion, Gunther held onto the title very tightly and thus is still the reigning champion.

At last year’s WrestleMania Premium Live Event, the Celtic Warrior, The Scottish Psychopath, and the Ring General battled each other in a Triple Threat match for the Intercontinental title. It was a match that received heaps of praise from the fans, critics, and fellow wrestlers.

During a recent interview with Virgin Media Sports Stories, The Celtic Warrior shared his thoughts on the match. Sheamus was convinced that it was the best match on the card and claimed that his match should have been the main event. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion also shared that competing in the main even on the grandest stage of them all is on his bucket list.

“The IC Title. That’s it. I want to main event WrestleMania too. I want to main event WrestleMania, that’s another one. The IC Title and main event WrestleMania are the two things I want to do. I should have main evented WrestleMania (39). It should have gone on last. It stole the show at WrestleMania. Nothing came close, match-wise, the match me, Gunther, and Drew [McIntyre] had. I knew that was always going to be the case. I was so close (to winning the IC Title) at Mania, and it just got taken away from me,” Sheamus said. [H/T Fightful.com]

Sheamus also recently teased that he has his eye on championship gold in 2024.

Will Sheamus main event a WrestleMania 39?
