Tony Khan discusses Ric Flair‘s presence in AEW.
Flair made his AEW debut on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite. There, he was revealed as Tony Khan’s gift to Sting. Flair officially signed with AEW in November, and Khan later stated that Flair was essentially paying AEW through the Woooo Energy sponsorship.
In an interview with Going Ringside with News4Jax, AEW CEO Tony Khan stated that it had been great to have Flair in AEW. He praised the legend and called him a mogul. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
“It’s great to have Ric Flair in AEW and have Ric Flair be part of his final matches for Sting,” Tony Khan said. “Also, it’s been a great sponsorship opportunity for AEW. Ric Flair is a mogul and somebody who is involved in a lot of businesses as an entrepreneur.
“Ric Flair’s Woooo Energy is a great sponsor and Ric Flair is a great legend in pro wrestling and having him appear and with Sting for these final matches is really something special.”
