Swerve Strickland Praises Chris Jericho For Helping Him In AEW

The year 2023 was one of the best for former NXT North American Champion Swerve Strickland. He was one of the top heels in AEW.

Recently, the leader of the Mogul Affiliates was a special guest on the State of Florida Sports Podcast. Swerve Strickland shared which top AEW star helped him a lot during his initial days in the Jacksonville-based promotion. It was none other than Chris Jericho.

“I’m not one of those in one ear out the other type of people, when I’m told something and I hear it and I dissect it and it makes sense to me, I want to do it. I’m one of those guys he never has to worry about and it’s really cool to have that kind of relationship and that kind of respect from Chris Jericho … My model is to try get as close to the way that Jericho does it as possible,” Swerve Strickland said. Swerve Strickland is on the hunt for championship gold

This past week was the AEW World’s End Pay-per-view. During the post-show media scrum Strickland revealed that he will be chasing championship gold from now on.

“Timeline-wise, it starts tomorrow, truth be told,” Strickland said. “Whatever it is, however long it’s going to take, I just know it’s going to start tomorrow. That’s what I wake up for. Tonight, I feel like my time was wasted, and my time is very valuable to me. As Dustin Rhodes could see that, he paid for that because he got in my way.

“I spent two months in the Continental Classic going after championship gold and I was the one that got pinned the least in the entire tournament. The only one that took one pin in the entire tournament full of aces, not just in AEW but in the entire industry. That says something to me. That says I’m worth something and that says my time is worth something.”

Do you think the Mogul Affiliates leader will become the AEW World Champion in 2024?
