Adam Copeland Knows The Perfect Venue To End His In-Ring Career, Doesn’t Need ‘Triumphant’ Retirement

Adam Copeland hopes to wrap up his career in a familiar territory.

At 50 years old, Adam Copeland has begun thinking about what the end of his wrestling career may look like. And while he doesn’t have a definitive timeline of when his last match might occur, he does have a particular location in mind for it. Speaking with Notsam Wrestling, Copeland revealed where he would ideally like his final match to take place.

“I don’t think [my retirement match] needs to be triumphant. I already had that. And I don’t know if it’s [against] Christian anymore. It’d be nice to give that final shot in the arm to that person or even the person who’s already there but it ain’t gonna hurt,” Copeland said. “In a perfect world, again, to me, the place is really important. I would love to do it in Maple Leaf Gardens. That I would love to do, even if it means I gotta start an indie for a day and I got to book Maple Leaf Gardens. And I got to film it, and I got to get the production team. I got to get the talent. To be able to do it in the place that I first saw wrestling live.”

“Honestly though, if I could do it in Maple Leaf Gardens, there’s no other place and there’s no other there’s no other ending after that. That’s it. To ‘Macho Man’ Randy Savage, Jesse Ventura, Junkyard Dog, Tito Santana, my first main event that I watch live. Tony ‘Cannonball’ Parisi against Rene Goulet, first match. To go back and be able to do it in that place, that’d be special.”

Copeland, of course, is no stranger to the Maple Leaf Gardens, as he is native to the Toronto, Ontario area. During his early wrestling fandom in the 1980s, Copeland attended several live events at the venue. One of these house shows, as Copeland alluded to, featured a headlining tag match that pitted “Macho Man” Randy Savage and Jesse Ventura against Junkyard Dog and Tito Santana.
