CM Punk had his first match back in WWE on Tuesday night, and it had the wrestling world talking… including Chris Jericho.
CM Punk faced Dominik Mysterio in his first match in WWE in nearly nine years. WWE heavily promoted the live event match on social media, and Chris Jericho commented on the moment.
“Congrats! ???,” Jericho wrote on Instagram.
Business as usual
Jericho reportedly called Punk “a cancer to the locker room and a detriment to the company” after the infamous All Out brawl. He also garnered some attention when he got into a spat with Punk’s lawyer about the NDA tied to the backstage fight.
However, Jericho has largely been complimentary of CM Punk in public. Jericho recently said he wished he got one more match with Punk in AEW, and he has said he always enjoyed working with him overall.
Speaking with WFAA, Chris Jericho was asked to comment on the reaction in AEW to CM Punk’s return to WWE.
“Business as usual, man. It happens,” Chris Jericho said. “Same reason I’m sure there wasn’t a big reaction when Adam Copeland came to AEW, or even Will Ospreay signed with AEW, or when Danielson and Moxley and Adam Cole came to AEW. It’s good for the business that guys have the ability to go between companies. It’s great for the fans, and it’s great for the talent overall. It just makes the business stronger, and that’s the most important thing.”
