Mercedes Moné Reflects On Her NXT Television Debut As Sasha Banks

It is safe to say that the place that made Mercedes Moné is the Black and Gold era of NXT. During her time in NXT under the ring name Sasha Banks, she was part of the infamous Four Horsewomen faction along with Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair, and Bayley.

Moné also managed to capture the NXT Women’s Championship once. Her match against her friend Bayley at the 2015 edition of NXT Takeover Brooklyn is considered to be one of the best matches in her career and is still talked about by fans.

Yesterday on the 12th of December, a fan shared a clip of the night the former WWE Superstar‘s NXT debut. It was on the 12th of December, 2012. It was a match against Saraya, formerly known as Paige. Upon seeing the tweet, Mercedes Moné reacted to her debut.

“12.12.12 [heart emoji],” Mercedes Moné tweeted.

Rocky Romero provides an update on Mercedes Moné hints at potentially returning to NJPW

Currently, Mercedes Moné has been absent from in-ring competition due to an injury during her NJPW Strong title match against Willow Nightingale. During an interview with Wrestle Pursuits, Rocky Romero opened up about Moné’s injury.

“I honestly don’t have an update right now. I hope that I’ll be talking to her agent and her maybe soon-ish, but I honestly don’t have any update about anything. The last thing I had heard was that she was recovering well and basically, they were going to let me know or reach out when she was getting close to a comeback,” Rocky Romero said. [H/T Fightful]

Romero also mentioned that Moné most definitely enjoyed her time in New Japan Pro Wrestling and that there’s still communication with her.

“There’s definitely still communication. Obviously, I don’t know what she’s going to want to do when she comes back for sure. Especially coming back from a serious injury that kind of messed her up, you know, maybe messed up her timeframe of what she wanted to do and how she wanted to do it. So, I really couldn’t speak for her, I don’t think it would be fair.

“I think that she thoroughly enjoyed her time in New Japan and New Japan loved working with her and obviously would love to continue to work with her, but I think everybody’s pretty happy with the work that we’ve done.” [H/T Fightful]
