Tony Khan says vacating the ROH World Tag Team Championship is something to consider.
MJF and Adam Cole won the ROH World Tag Team Championship at AEW All In on August 27. Cole went down with an ankle injury at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, and he has been sidelined ever since. MJF defended the gold at AEW WrestleDream and AEW Full Gear. However, he is currently banged up as well.
Speaking on the ROH Final Battle media call, Tony Khan was asked whether the titles being vacated has been considered due to the injuries.
“It’s definitely something to look at at some point,” Tony Khan said. “I know that it was something that MJF said it was important to him and Cole, was to try and maintain the belts for when Cole gets back.
“Obviously, it’s been a long road to recovery from a bad injury. But we’re all excited about having Adam Cole back in AEW as soon as he can come back. They are a great tag team for any company. [They] certainly have been a huge part of AEW this year and a big success. So with Adam Cole and MJF being champions, I think certainly that it’s something to consider.”
As of this writing, an ROH World Tag Team Championship match is not scheduled for ROH Final Battle. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
