AEW World Champion MJF is dealing with an injury, and a new report shines some light on the situation.
MJF reportedly suffered a hip injury and banged up his shoulder during his title match at AEW Full Gear. On November 27, he tweeted (and deleted) that he is dealing with a torn labrum. Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful confirmed the injury. Sapp wrote that MJF is expected to wrestle as advertised at AEW Worlds End on December 30.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported an update. He wrote that MJF will not be getting surgery. Instead, he will be working on stem cell therapy and rehab to get ready. If he had surgery, the champion would have been sidelined for a few months.
Meltzer noted that it is not known whether MJF will be able to do a match between now and AEW Worlds End. However, “The Generational Talent” believes he can work carefully or have “smoke-and-mirror matches” prior to the pay-per-view.
On the November 29 episode of AEW Dynamite, MJF agreed to face two members of The Devil’s group on the December 6 episode.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
