Dave Bautista continues to do great things outside of the squared circle.
The ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) announced today on social media that former WWE Superstar Dave Bautista is teaming up with the organization for Giving Tuesday to help rescue dogs in need find a new home.
The organization released a special video today, which featured Bautista talking about his dogs and what they mean to him.
“My home is where my dogs are because there is just such a sense of love with them,” Dave Bautista began. “And so I feel like wherever they are, there’s just a sense of normalcy, which is hard for me to attain these days because I’m so busy constantly on the go. So my dogs are my happy place. I don’t say that lightly. I mean that with every bit of my heart.
“My first rescue dogs were Ollie and Maggie. And I’ve had them for about five years, and so I adopted them. And then, after becoming so connected with them, I started to be more aware of how many dogs were in shelters and needed homes. They’re so innocent and so curious and so playful and so loving and just waiting for someone to give them a loving home that requires very minimal food, water, and love. You get so much back in return.
“I want to give a shout-out and a thank you to everyone who continues to give on Giving Tuesday to animal shelters, to animals in need. There is no amount that’s too small. Even if you can go and be a volunteer and just give your time. It doesn’t have to be a monetary thing. Your time is appreciated and welcomed. I have been giving to the ASPCA for well over ten years. And the reason is simple: because they help animals. Please give on Giving Tuesday.”
Dave Bautista is a powerful ambassador to the ASPCA
ASPCA president and CEO Matt Bershadker issued a statement regarding Bautista being a powerful ambassador for their organization.
“Dave Bautista’s compassion for homeless animals and advocacy for pit bulls, in particular, make him a powerful ambassador for GivingTuesday,” Matt Bershadker said in a statement to PEOPLE. “Inspiring his fans and many others to adopt, foster, and contribute to the health and welfare of shelter animals, even before those animals are ready for new homes. We thank Dave and everyone speaking out and stepping up this holiday season on behalf of dogs and cats in need and commit our strong support for those animals now and always.”
