Tony Khan has been advertising the Continental Classic as the greatest tournament in professional wrestling history. Eddie Kingston made the tournament even bigger than already advertised by putting both his NJPW Strong Openweight Title and the ROH World Titles on the line. The winner of the tournament will become AEW’s first Triple Crown Champion.
In his first match in the tournament, The Mad King wrestled The House of Black’s Brody King. After putting up a tough fight, the former AEW World Trios Champion managed to pick up the win via pinfall.
Following the match, during his post-match promo segment, The Mad King reflected on his loss to Brody King on Saturday night and mentioned that he would get ready for his next fight against The American Dragon Bryan Danielson. He mentioned that he was going to rest up and then move on to his next match.
“What do you want me to say? I knew this was going to be tough. Tony Khan didn’t put any scrubs in this tournament. I just you know… Maybe I came in too arrogant, too cocky. They think, ‘Oh because I put the belts into the pot that I was given, like I deserve to win. No one deserves anything. Everything is earned. And I got Bryan (Danielson) next and now I’m behind the eight ball. And it’s… I just don’t… I’m not going to do this. I am not going to go… I’m not doing it. I am not going to go back. No. Humble in victory, humble in defeat. I got Bryan next. I gotta go heal up. Epsom Salt bath and all that good stuff. I’ll be ready for Bryan. I will,” Eddie Kingston said.
Do you think Eddie Kingston will be able to defeat Bryan Danielson?
