Ric Flair says he thinks some people in WWE are upset with him due to his move to AEW.
Ric Flair made his AEW debut on the October 25 episode of AEW Dynamite, as he was revealed as Tony Khan’s gift to Sting. Flair then signed with AEW on November 2. WWE previously released the WWE Hall of Famer in 2021. Most recently, Flair appeared in Sting’s corner at AEW Full Gear on November 18.
In an interview with Shannon Sharpe on Club Shay Shay, Sharpe noted that legendary NFL players are often honored at the Super Bowl. When asked, Flair explained that WWE also honors legends. He went on to share his belief that some people are upset with him following his move to AEW. (H/t Jeremy Lambert of Fightful for the transcription)
“I think some people are upset with me now that I went to work at AEW. I don’t know why. If you’re acknowledging, and you think I’ve contributed to the business, and I know I have because I hear it every day, you would think they would let me do whatever I want to do. As long as it doesn’t affect them. I’m not going to get on TV and say ‘AEW is better,’ I’m not doing something stupid. I’m just working. That’s all I know how to do. They’re mad. Not mad, but they did something…I’ll tell you off camera.”
Flair did not elaborate about what they “did” during the show.
