Tony Khan comments on Bryan Danielson‘s status.
Bryan Danielson was advertised as a headliner for WrestleCade 2023, as the event had a “Year of the Dragon” tagline. Unfortunately, Danielson announced he had to pull out of the event due to “unforeseen circumstances.” Despite not being able to appear in Winston-Salem for WrestleCade, Danielson is still advertised for AEW programming this week.
WrestleZone’s Bill Pritchard asked Khan about Danielson’s status during Thursday’s AEW Full Gear Media Call. Khan said that it might be best to ask Danielson for a full answer, but he pointed to Danielson’s issues dealing with a broken orbital bone. Danielson was able to be at a recent Collision taping because he drove, and they are still waiting for him to get cleared to fly.
“I’m not sure, Bryan, it’s interesting. I would let Bryan — I don’t want to speak for him on that,” Tony Khan said. “But I know Bryan always puts the wrestling as a priority. There’s also the issue of we’re waiting for Bryan to get final clearance to fly. He was able to come to Collision in Oakland this past weekend because it was a drive that he was able to make.
“He’s not able to fly; he can ride in a car. Pittsburgh is a long way from where he lives, and also WrestleCade, I believe, was a long way from where he lives. There’s a couple of things still in play there. But I would let him speak to that. But I’m not too familiar with that event. So I can’t say.”
Danielson is scheduled to compete in the AEW Continental Classic. He’s also confirmed to compete against Kazuchika Okada at WrestleKingdom in January.
