John Cena Once Got His Ring Gear From People That Made Outfits For Strippers

The 16-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena has been in the business for over two decades. He has also been the face of WWE for over 15 years. Recently, the Leader of the Cenation shared a story involving his initial gimmick as The Prototype.

Earlier this week, Cena shared a clip on his TikTok. It was one of his first-ever matches as a professional wrestler. It was in the year 2000. He went by the ring name The Prototype. At the time, he wasn’t wearing his infamous Jorts outfit. He was only wearing generic wrestling trunks. Here is what Cena shared about how and who stitched up his wrestling gear at that time.

“Okay! Let’s take a look at this clip from 2000. I am at the Roxy Theatre and I am angry. One thing I immediately remember about those trunks I got made, I got them in a place that makes outfits for exotic dancers. And they were very thin and not quite durable. And boy, am I happy they lasted through this contest.”

Cena also shared some details about his match.

“You could see some spry wrestling maneuvres. Brett Wagner, our commentator said, ‘What’s he gonna do now? Wrestle?’ It was maybe a foreshadowing of things to come… Followed by the world’s smallest Sidewalk Slam. What I’m doing here is setting the bar for improvement. My confidence is not outshined by my fatigue. But here we have a move where this is the Protobomb which would later go on to have a future in the ‘Five Moves of Doom.’ But there you have it. There’s a quick look over two decades ago to the Prototype and his Golf-T Haircut, exhausted getting to Victory Lane,” John Cena said.
