New Japan Pro-Wrestling will establish a new championship.
At NJPW Power Struggle on November 4, Will Ospreay retained the IWGP United States Championship by defeating Shota Umino. After the match, Jon Moxley confronted Ospreay, and David Finlay attacked both men. Finlay then smashed both the IWGP United States Championship and the IWGP United Kingdom Championship.
NJPW then confirmed that Ospreay will defend the IWGP United States (United Kingdom) Championship against Moxley and Finlay. In the official announcement, NJPW teased that a new title will be created for the match.
At a press conference on November 6, NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi addressed the situation and stated that the company will create a new title, and more details will be announced soon.
