Report: WWE Has Interest In Will Ospreay

Will Ospreay continues to be the source of plenty of buzz, and a new report states that WWE is interested in the NJPW star.

As previously noted, Ospreay’s contract with New Japan Pro-Wrestling is set to expire in February 2024. He is often linked to AEW, as he has wrestled for the company several times. Additionally, Ospreay himself has said that TNA is in the running for his next home. Ospreay has also stated that he is open to potentially moving to the United States and joining WWE.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that Ospreay’s mind has “opened up” regarding his future. Per Sapp, WWE has shown “heavy interest”, and sources claimed that there have been conversations between the two sides. However, sources close to Ospreay would not confirm that.

Additionally, Sapp writes that WWE sources confirmed the company’s interest, and they have made “preliminary overtures” towards Ospreay. WWE did not comment on the situation in an official capacity.

Update On TNA And AEW’s Interest In Will Ospreay

Sapp’s report also notes that TNA and AEW remain interested in Ospreay. Both companies indicated that they have enjoyed working with him. Otherwise, specifics of the deals being discussed are not clear. Overall, it’s clear that there is plenty of interest in Ospreay all over the globe.

Additionally, Sapp cited NJPW sources who noted that while they would love to keep Ospreay, they don’t necessarily expect it to be on the same kind of deal he has now; he currently has a full-time contract with the company.

Seth Rollins recently said “The water is warm” in response to Ospreay reacting to his match at WWE Crown Jewel.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
