NWA Samhain featured a segment where Father James Mitchell appeared to snort cocaine off of a spoon. That spot might put the NWA’s reported television deal with The CW in jeopardy.
During the broadcast, Father James Mitchell was seen in a seating area with some women and other pro wrestlers. Mitchell was clearly seen snorting something off of a plastic spoon. This was obviously meant to imply he was doing cocaine with his cohorts.
That segment could negatively impact the NWA’s reported TV deal with The CW. Haus Of Wrestling first reported NWA had locked in two deals with the network. Now the site is reporting that network executives saw the cocaine spot and were upset by it.
According to the report, there is an active push by higher-ups at The CW to air NWA content on its CW app and not on television. It was noted that Corgan was originally told The CW would not watch NWA PPVs and would only be concerned with what aired on the TV show.
The cocaine spot at NWA Samhain resulted in a high number of complaints on social media. Now there’s a high chance NWA will not actually air on TV, and would stay on the app.
NWA/CW Deal Details
Haus Of Wrestling provided more details about the NWA’s reported deal, part of which included a reality series. It was noted that the reality show was fully paid for by Billy Corgan, and he had final creative say on the series. In addition, Corgan said his wedding would be part of it, which the network was excited for. Corgan was optimistic that The CW deal could lead to more ticket sales for the NWA. The reality series could also lead to more guaranteed income, if successful.
