Nia Jax Reveals How She Opened The Door For Her WWE Return

Nia Jax‘s Royal Rumble appearance earlier this year led to her getting the wrestling bug again.

RAW Superstar Nia Jax was a recent guest on WWE After The Bell with Corey Graves. When asked what led to her full-time return to WWE, Jax revealed it came down to texting Triple H and letting him know she was interested.

“I started watching the product again,” Nia Jax said. “Before, I kind of was like, I don’t want to see it, but then I sort of oh, let me watch the product and see how it’s going. And looking at it all, there’s so much new talent, and I’m like, oh my gosh, there’s so much new talent I could work with.

“Then hearing the reaction at Rumble knowing that people still kind of remember the Nia Jax character, I was like, oh, I wonder if my character could kind of help any of these new girls like possibly. I’m not sitting here saying that I’m some guru, but I know that without a shadow of a doubt, Nia Jax is a great heel.

“I believe that every babyface needs an incredible heel to feed off of. And I thought, well, a good monster heel could possibly be needed at the moment. And I remember I was talking to Sarah Amato because she was my coach back at NXT and she was like, ‘You look great. You look incredible. I really think that you’re made for wrestling. I feel like you should try it again.’

A simple text message to Triple H

“I’m like, really? I would love to, but I’m not sure, and so she’s like, ‘Just text Hunter. Just text him.’ I’m like, really? So I texted Hunter, and I was just like, hey, I was wondering if possibly you had a spot for me to come back. And then I want to say that two minutes later, he was like, Yeah, let’s talk. Let’s get on the phone and chat soon.’ So it kind of snowballed from there.”

Following their chat, Jax knew she was returning to the company full-time but didn’t know when.

“I didn’t really know when I was gonna return,” Nia Jax said. “We just chatted about a possible time, but he’s so incredibly busy that it was like nobody knew when it was going to be. It was possibly SummerSlam, after SummerSlam, we didn’t know. Then finally, I got the call. They’re like, hey, you’re needed, and I’m like, okay!”
