Pat Buck went through quite a few suits working backstage at WWE, but it wasn’t a total loss.
All Elite Wrestling producer Pat Buck was a recent guest on Notsam Wrestling. When asked about getting into with Nia Jax on WWE programming and his suits getting ripped in the process, Buck told a funny story of how this all came about.
“I actually forgot about that,” Pat Buck admitted. “And that’s coming off, I think a week or two prior, where it was kind of a random thing again; this is during the COVID — not even ThunderDome era yet. Vince had an idea of kind of like, let’s have a suit out there that she can throw around. And I believe the first person pitched was Chris Park [Abyss].
“He’s a big boy; maybe it doesn’t mix very well. Well, there’s Pat. Okay, sign me up. I’ll do it. So we did the first time, and the first time it happened with Nia and Shayna, and she ripped my suit, and then we had to do a second take. And I went, ‘I don’t have a suit. I didn’t pack two suits with me.’
“So then I just have a dress shirt on that got ripped off and whatever, and then she came back and then did it again. But yep, there’s been, I think a love-hate between my — which is ironic because if anyone dresses loud, it’s the chairman of the board. So I think it was kind of a — but I didn’t back down. I kept amping them up.”
Pat Buck isn’t that small
When it was brought up that Nia Jax would continually refer to him as small on WWE programming, Buck thinks that stems from the fact that the suits he wore were very slimming.
“I think also in that capacity too where suits are slimming. It’s a tight fit,” Pat Buck said. “So I think again, I always heard that too. I think Vince thought I was a lot thinner than I really am. I’m 205, 210, 5’11”, that is smaller than what he traditionally likes. But I also will give him full credit every time a suit was destroyed. He fully bought me a new one. So that was very nice of him.”
