Trinity might be the IMPACT Knockouts Champion, but she has fears and insecurities like everyone else.
IMPACT Wrestling‘s Trinity was a recent guest on Busted Open Radio. When asked about returning to Chicago this weekend in the same city where she made her debut earlier this year, Trinity took a moment to reflect upon that moment and said she wants to remember the special moments of her career.
“I remember standing back in gorilla before walking out and just kind of standing behind all the women and just looking at everybody and like giving myself that moment to soak it all in and process it and be thankful for being here and beside these women and I kind of just had a surreal moment like whoa, I’m here in IMPACT with these icons with these legends, these women that have inspired me.
“I’ve really been keen on just soaking in moments because I feel like the 14 years I’ve been doing this went by so fast, and I didn’t really — you just go go go go go go go. So now I’m really keen on really connecting in these very special moments because it may be the only time you get these moments. And I’m aware of that now. So I really like focus on those and that night was one of those nights where I had a few of those moments where I was just really just in awe of being a knockout.”
While discussing her title defense against Mickie James at Bound For Glory, Trinity said her main fear going into this match is not living up to what James sees in her as a performer.
“I feel like this is probably the most important match in my career now at this moment, and the only fear that I have is not giving you my best on that night,” Trinity said. “I love and respect you so much, I think you truly are one of the greatest. You have been at this and fighting for women’s wrestling and breaking down barriers and walls before I even knew about it before I even started here. And to just be in that room across from a woman I respect so much.
“My fear is not living up to all that you see me. So that is the biggest challenge for me. But also the most exciting match for me, and I’m so looking forward to it. And I think it’s going to be a fan favorite. It’s going to be a favorite of mine. And I know we’re gonna kill it.”
Trinity went on to admit how great it has felt to prove all her doubters wrong in IMPACT this year.
“Oh, 1,000%! I saw the comments and what people were saying about me, and it lit a fire in me, and it just made me tell myself no girl, you ain’t going out like this,” Trinity said. “You gotta get up and get out there and finish this in a better way for myself. And I feel that I’m doing that in IMPACT. So that makes me feel good.
“Then what I realized is that also no matter what you do, there are just going to be people against you, and are just not going to be on your team. So I realized that too, so I’m good. Like, I feel fulfilled within myself. And so I feel like nothing can shake me anymore. Like I’m in such a good space, mentally, physically, and emotionally just with everything.
“I feel like my life is in a way better balance now than it was ever before. And like I just want to keep going because I love this. I love it. It’s fun for me. I think it’s great therapy for me to continue performing. I’ve been performing since I was eight years old. And that’s what I do. That’s what I love to do.
“And wrestling is so beautiful because it combines all of these different factors of performing and entertainment and theatrics and you can sing if you want, you can act if you want, you’re wrestling you’re physically active, and I just love that I have a world and a place where I can combine all those things that I love and bring people happiness because in return that brings me happiness. I’m winning. I’m having fun.”
