Sammy Guevara is not going to get the hometown pop he was hoping for.
Guevara last wrestled at AEW WrestleDream on October 1. There, he teamed up with Konosuke Takeshita and Will Ospreay to defeat Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, and Chris Jericho. AEW later announced he was not cleared to compete on the October 4 episode of AEW Dynamite.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that Sammy Guevara is recovering from a concussion he suffered at WrestleDream, and he is dealing with a setback. It was noted that Guevara was hopeful he would be cleared for the October 18 episode of AEW Dynamite near his hometown of Houston.
Guevara shared an update on Tuesday, explaining that he has good news and bad news for fans.
“Good news, bad news. Bad news I’m not cleared yet. Good news everyday I’m feeling better. Sorry Houston I really wanted to put on a show for y’all. Hopefully next time,” Sammy Guevara wrote on Twitter. “Also Fuck Chris Jericho.”
Father-To-Be
Guevara recently spoke with Scott Fishman of TV Insider about having a child on the way. Guevara said he hasn’t been asking for advice as much as people have offered it.
“It’s not so much at turning to anybody for advice as it’s people coming up to offer advice, which I think is super cool,” Sammy Guevara said. “I’m more to myself for the most part, so it’s nice people are going out of their way to help.
“People like “Hangman” [Adam Page]. Him and I have known each other in AEW for four-and-a-half years. We talked the longest we’ve ever talked in a long time. Not about wrestling but about babies. I asked him a million questions about what he went through with him and his wife, about the birth and afterward.
“What the future holds for Tay and us? We both work at the same place. I think it will be a learn-as-we-go sort of thing. We’re trying to get her family here from Brazil, which isn’t easy with the visa issues. But if anything, it’s going to be the traveling baby.
“I think it will be a fun journey. Last year we got two kittens. That was a whole thing when you’re gone for weeks at a time. So we brought them with us. If we start the kid off young traveling, they are not going to know anything different.”
