Vince McMahon Will Not Have Oversight In Final Cut Of Netflix Documentary

Vince McMahon will not have a say in the final cut of the documentary about him.

As first announced in 2020, a documentary about Vince McMahon is in the works, and Bill Simmons is the Executive Producer of the series. It was previously set for a 2022 release before it was reportedly pulled from Netflix’s slate. In January 2023, Simmons stated that he was still working on the docuseries.

Speaking with Bloomberg’s Lucas Shaw at Bloomberg Screentime, Simmons brought up the Vince McMahon documentary. He stated that he thinks it could be really special.

“We have this Vince McMahon documentary that we’ve been working on for three years. I think [it] has a chance to be really great,” Simmons said. “I really think it has a chance to be the best one I’ve been involved with, and I’ll be interested to see what people think about that one.

“It was a lot of time, and it was one where Netflix still has final cut of it, and it’s a little more old-school, like with the 30 for 30 model was. I think it has a chance to be really special.”

When asked whether Vince McMahon will get to see the documentary before it comes out, Simmons replied, “Not the giving notes on the final cut part. I think they get to look at clips.”

As of this writing, there is no word on when the documentary will be released.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
