Nyla Rose Describes The ‘Huge Responsibility’ Of Being The Second AEW Women’s Champ

Since its commencement, AEW has seen multiple female wrestlers hold the top prize in the division. The second wrestler to hold the Women’s World Championship was Nyla Rose.

The Native Beast defeated Riho to capture the Women’s Championship. She went on to hold onto the championship for over 100 days. Finally, her reign came to an end when she wrestled Hikaru Shida. Shida went on to carry the Women’s Title for over a year.

The next one to carry the AEW Women’s World Championship was Dr. Britt Baker.

During a recent interview with Xenia Did That, Nyla Rose opened up about the responsibility she had when she was the AEW Women’s World Champion.

“It always is a ‘burden’ if you will. I don’t like the term because it is such a negative word. But it is a huge responsibility. You’re a champion, you are representing a company, you’re not just representing yourself. But you’re representing an entire locker room, an entire company, at all times, no matter where you are. When you’re in the entertainment industry, when you’re someone in the limelight and you say you are in the spotlight right?”

Rose also felt that all the pressure was always under a microscope.

“All eyes are on you. You’re under a microscope at all times. When you’re a champion that spotlight is zeroed in, you are in the stage by yourself. I use that as a phrase because there are so many people that make things happen. Even the people you don’t see behind the scenes. But yeah, being a champion, you are zeroed in and you are the representative. So it’s a huge responsibility,” Nyla Rose said.
