Frankie Kazarian is one of the most popular wrestlers in IMPACT Wrestling. He has competed in many promotions, such as Ring of Honor, WWE, All Elite Wrestling, and many more.
Kazarian has captured many championships throughout his career. The former WWE Superstar is also one-half of the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions. The other half was two-time TNT Champion Scorpio Sky.
After parting ways with All Elite Wrestling, the California-born wrestler decided to return full-time to IMPACT Wrestling.
The 46-year-old star recently competed in a brutal match against his longtime rival Eddie Edwards. Both stars have been feuding with each other for several months. The two even got their wives involved in their rivalry.
At the Nashville-based promotion’s 1000th episode celebrations, Kazarian teamed up with his wife Traci Brooks. The duo wrestled Eddie Edwards and his wife Ashley Edwards. The former AEW star and his wife emerged victorious. This was Traci Brooks’ final match. She will also be inducted into the IMPACT Wrestling’s Hall of Fame at the Bound For Glory pay-per-view.
Kazarian and Edwards seemingly put an end to their feud last week. The two competed in a two-out-of-three-falls Killer IMPACT Match. Following the match, The former AEW star tweeted to share his appreciation for the match and claimed that’s the reason why he’s back in the promotion.
“When I asked why I chose to return to @IMPACTWRESTLING, it’s this. These matches. These opponents. These moments. I put every fiber of my being into every single match I have. The blood. The sweat. The tears. All worth it to help push Impact Wrestling, my home, to new heights,” Frankie Kazarian tweeted.
Returning Home
Kazarian previously spoke with Mike Johnson of PWInsider about his decision to leave AEW. He said he wanted to leave the company on good terms, but also wanted to bet on himself.
Kazarian says AEW reached out to him about renewing his contract, and he explained how he approached the subject of leaving with them.
“So I believe the match against Josh Alexander was November 18th. I still have two years left on my contract, two years to get rolled over. AEW management had contacted me early December, which was only a few weeks after this match. So it’s just kind of a coincidence timing wise. But they contacted me 30 days out, which is what they’re supposed to do, and they had basically talked about rolling me over and said you wanted to get the process going on that, and I mean, I basically said simply kind of, you know, thanks, but no thanks. i had kind of voiced, you know, concerns and frustrations and goals and aspirations, and had a really good talk with management and kind of left it there for a while. I still was going to TVs and the last television I was at was in San Antonio, Texas.
“I sat down with Megha who, if people don’t know, that’s the head legal in AEW, a very, very bright, brilliant woman, very nice, and had a long conversation in person and gave her the list of the reasons why I wanted to, you know, kind of move on bet on myself. That’s kind of the recurring theme here and that now was the time to do it. I wanted to do it so we could — I’ve always done business the right way, I wanted to be amicable about it. I wanted to get out before there was feelings of resistance or bitterness or any of that. So, that message was relayed and they wanted to do right by me, which I respect the hell out of and the deal was done. So, as of January 1st of this year, I was, quote unquote free agent.”
