Nick Aldis is grateful for his opportunity with WWE, but balancing it with his independent commitments has been challenging.
Former NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion Nick Aldis has been working with WWE as a producer on a trial basis since August. Aldis has said that he is on a handshake deal with WWE. Meanwhile, he continues to compete on the independent scene.
Speaking with Mike McGuire on McGuire on Wrestling, Aldis was asked about his status with WWE.
“I think it’s safe to say I’m working with WWE,” Nick Aldis said. “I think that’s a fair way to put it. That’s the way I look at it. I’m working with them at the moment, and at least from my point of view, I feel like it’s been very positive, and I’ve enjoyed it. It’s been rewarding, and I’m very obviously flattered that they would want my input and expertise, for lack of a better term,.
“Especially with helping some of the younger talent that are coming up from NXT and stuff like that. But for me, it’s a huge opportunity and it’s a learning opportunity as much as anything else. I’m learning as much as I’m guiding others, so it’s a positive situation all the way around. Obviously, my status is still pending, I guess, is the safest way to put it. But I’m very grateful for any opportunity. I’ve waited a long time for an opportunity with WWE. It’s the show, right, it’s the bigs, and any opportunity that I have to contribute, I’m very happy to do it. I’ve been 100% committed to it, and I hope that it continues.
Nick Aldis: Balancing WWE And Independent Commitments Is Challenging
Nick Aldis continued by discussing how he balances his work with WWE and his commitments on the independent scene. He stated that it is both challenging and fun.
“It’s challenging, and fortunately, WWE have been very understanding of that,” Nick Aldis said. “There have been times where I’ve been unable to make certain shows because of my independent commitments and also because of Mickie’s commitments. They’re well aware of her. Fitting it all in is a challenge, but it’s certainly fun.
“This last couple of weeks have been pretty tough because everything’s been on the west coast. A lot of red eyes and back and forth. Basically I’m currently attending Raw and SmackDown wherever I can, whenever I’m available to. It’s high energy, high-pressure situation. It’s a ton of people, a lot of moving parts, and you’re just there trying to take everything in [and] learn, but also contribute. Then in the meantime, I’ve been fulfilling my independent commitments.”
