CM Punk‘s return to WWE has been a hot topic as of late. Will it actually happen?
Fightful (via Fightful Select) is reporting that WWE sources have stated that reports of CM Punk returning to the company are false. It was noted that the company line is that Punk is not planned for a WWE return.
As of today, the claim from WWE is that they are not in conversations with CM Punk about a comeback. These WWE sources wanted to temper expectations of Punk showing up at Survivor Series. It was noted that things could always change, but WWE sources were “adamant” that the two sides are not in talks.
Fightful previously reported that Punk had feelers out to contacts in WWE about how a return would be approached, but he was still waiting to see if WWE would reach out to him.
Fans might have also noticed that there have been “teases” about Punk on WWE TV lately. References include Shinsuke Nakamura’s GTS and some “Best In The World” remarks. WWE sources told Fightful that most of them weren’t cleared beforehand. They chalked it up to talent trying to get under Punk’s skin. Fightful stressed that readers are free to not believe the last claim, and that these claims by WWE higher-ups could always change down the line.
