Where Things Reportedly Stand Between CM Punk And WWE

Is CM Punk on his way back to WWE at this year’s Survivor Series premium live event?

Since CM Punk’s release from All Elite Wrestling last month, rumors have been running rampant that the former WWE Champion would return to the company later this year.

In today’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that Punk intends to return to WWE, and they are in talks. Despite this, Meltzer made it clear that sources within WWE have told him that no deal has been completed at this time.

Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling later followed up on this report. Hausman stated he heard from a WWE source that a Punk return at Survivor Series would be a “safe bet.”

In an update on these reports, Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp (via Fightful Select) provided an in-depth report of his own. Sapp states that no one in WWE has been told that Punk is returning to the company. On top of that, many top talent are opposed to him returning but know it’s a possibility.

Sapp states if CM Punk were to return to WWE, fences would have to be mended with several names in the company before doing so. It’s also noted that Punk’s leverage isn’t what it once would be and could play a significant factor in his schedule and pay if he were to return.

Stay tuned to WrestleZone for more information on CM Punk’s potential WWE return as it becomes available.
