Maven might have hated his WWE entrance theme, but there have been plenty of other WWE themes over the years that he’s really enjoyed.
Former WWE Superstar Maven recently sat down with WrestleZone’s Managing Editor Bill Pritchard. The Tough Enough winner was asked about what WWE entrance themes he liked since we know he hated his. Are there any tunes he wishes he had instead?
Maven pointed to Finn Balor, Seth Rollins, Goldust, and the original D-Generation X theme as some that really resonated with him.
“I really like now that Finn Balor entrance; I love his entrance,” Maven said. “I love Seth’s with, you know, just up and down. That’s so good. But for my money the two entrance themes that I always loved, I thought Goldust’s theme was fantastic. And that original DX. That was just like to me; it’s like entrance music and people don’t realize this but entrance music, it plays a role.
“And what that role is to tell the fans, even before they see somebody come through a curtain, what to feel. And the way I explain this to people is think about how you felt the moment you heard that glass break, and you knew Steve Austin was coming out. Think how you felt the minute you heard Rock, ‘If you smell…’ — like excitement, just joy came over you.
A lost connection?
“The same as when you would hear Taker’s gong, immediately you felt something. And I guess the reason I never like took to my theme was just, for me personally, I never felt that. Now you’re 100% right. I’m in the minority. Cardona, still to this day, will screenshot his phone and send me that song. Like, [he says] he’s working out and that comes up in his playlist.”
Maven said it’s funny because people ask him about his famous interaction with The Undertaker first, and hating his theme song comes up second.
“I said [I hated my theme song] not thinking it would ever become a big deal. I thought people would be like, ‘Ah yeah, he didn’t like it. No big deal.’ But yeah, people love it to the point of where they get like literally hot at me.”
Maven’s theme song is called ‘Around The Stars’ and it was created by Mercy Drive. The song’s original name was ‘Memory’.
