Yulisa Leon says she asked for her WWE release.
Yulisa Leon officially signed with WWE in February 2021 after she had a tryout in 2019. Leon competed on NXT, 205 Live, and NXT Level Up throughout her time with the company. She also made a one-off appearance on SmackDown on May 19, 2023. Leon last wrestled on the August 1 episode of WWE NXT.
Leon took to Twitter and commented on her release in a tweet on September 24.
The translation (courtesy of Fightful) are as follows:
“No price is too high to fight for what you are and what you want: To be the woman of your dreams,” Yulisa Leon wrote. “I thank the WWE & NXT Universe for honoring me with the opportunity to be the first Mexican woman under contract (as a wrestler).
I learned what I never imagined, I enjoyed like never before & I will stay with the great experiences and incredible friendships. But for personal reasons, I took the decision to ask to be released from my contract. I will let you know the reasons at a later time & I am deeply grateful for the facilities and for leaving the doors open for me.
I am still focused on my next projects, expect to hear from me very soon.”
WresteZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
