Rey Fenix Beats Jon Moxley, Wins AEW International Title On 9/20 AEW Dynamite

Rey Fenix has won the gold.

At AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, Jon Moxley defended the AEW International Championship against Rey Fenix. The challenger took the fight to Moxley before the bell and dived onto him. The two stars battled back and forth throughout the hard-fought bout.

In the end, Fenix spiked Moxley with a piledriver. The referee seemingly made the three-count, as Moxley never kicked out, but it was called a two-count.

Fenix then hit Moxley with another piledriver for the win.

Doctors checked on Moxley after the bout, as he seemingly suffered an injury. However, after a commercial, the doctors noted that Moxley walked to the back on his own power.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful tweeted that the finish wasn’t supposed to go that way.

Update: Mike Johnson of PWInsider reported that Moxley was checked by doctors for a “long time” before he walked to the back. The backstage belief is that he may have suffered a concussion.

In another tweet, Sapp noted that those he spoke with in AEW were optimistic that Moxley is okay.

The victory marks the beginning of Fenix’s first singles title reign in AEW. He is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion. Moxley won the AEW International Championship by defeating Orange Cassidy at AEW All Out on September 3.
