The West Australian news is reporting that WWE is set to announce a huge stadium show that will take place in Optus Stadium in Perth, Australia.
The report indicates that WWE ‘is days away’ from announcing the news that the event will take place before the start of the AFL season which is in late March. The event would likely be held before WrestleMania 40. The stadium has a maximum capacity of up to 70,000 depending on the layout.
This would be the first time since Super Showdown in 2018 that WWE runs a large-scale event in Australia. Last year, Stephanie McMahon went on record saying that Australia deserves to host another big WWE event.
It was reported earlier this year that WWE officials were traveling to Australia to talk about running another event there.
Update: Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that WWE will announce the Optus Stadium show. Johnson wrote that the plan is for the official announcement to come on September 19. The event will mark the first stadium show in Australia since the Global Event show in 2002.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
